A number of the researchers at TRUST had the opportunity to attend the SAPECS colloquium at Kirstenbosch on 15 & 16 April 2013 wherein a number of speakers from a range of disciplines presented their research on facets of Social-Ecological systems. For more information on the colloquium, please visit the SAPECS website: http://sapecs.org/ Anton Mathey, an Honour's student at the University of Pretoria conducted an investigation led by Dr. Karina Landman into the link between Urban Resilience and Neighbourhood Diversity of Pretoria CBD, by using Paul Kruger Street as a study area. His findings are shown below. The first National Colloquium on Urban Resilience was jointly hosted by the University of Pretoria and the CSIR to develop a shared understanding of the meaning of urban resilience and create a national community of practice. Academics from the major South African Universities and research councils, as well as stakeholders in government and the private sector gathered in Pretoria to discuss five questions:
As a part of our broader engagement in the debate regarding the purpose and importance of urban resilience in South Africa, TRUST organised a colloquium with a group of professionals and academics that took place at the CSIR during August 2012.
